Tokyo Onkyo Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the launch of the “HS2000Air,” a new earphone model under the Acoustune brand equipped with the fifth generation Myrinx driver. While inheriting the design philosophy of the HS2000 series, the HS2000Air achieves approximately 50% weight reduction compared to previous models and delivers improved wearing comfort. The model maintains full compatibility with all previously released ACT chambers

A New Housing Structure Combining Lightweight Resin Parts and Enhanced Fit

The HS2000Air retains the iconic housing design of the HS2000 series while adopting aluminum for the main structure to balance rigidity and lightness. By newly incorporating resin components into certain parts, the model achieves approximately 50% weight reduction compared to the HS2000MX SHO Shō  MKIII, including the chamber section. The resin parts feature a larger rounded shape than previous models, further improving fit and comfort. The result is not only a lighter body but also a more refined wearing experience.
Two color options - Sage Green and Yellow Gold - have been revived from past Acoustune products due to their popularity. These vibrant color variations complement the luxurious design language of the HS2000 series

ACT09 Acoustic Chamber Featuring the Fifth Generation Myrinx Driver

The Myrinx driver is a dynamic driver that uses a “Myrinx diaphragm,” a thin membrane molded as a single piece combining both dome and edge, made from medical grade synthetic Myrinx material. The diaphragm offers both flexibility and high rigidity—two characteristics that typically conflict—providing expressive capability suitable for any sound tuning envisioned by Acoustune.
The HS2000Air adopts the newly developed ACT09 chamber, equipped with the fifth generation Myrinx driver. The chamber also uses aluminum, contributing to further weight reduction compared to previous ACT chambers and supporting the model’s powerful yet highly detailed sound design.

■ Acoustune Capsule Technology(A.C.T.)

A hallmark of Acoustune products is their modular structure, in which the acoustic chamber and mechanical housing are completely separated. Users can safely replace the acoustic chamber by opening the high precision, low play movable outer housing. This technology, known as Acoustune Capsule Technology (A.C.T), allows future upgrades and optional components.
The HS2000Air offers 100% compatibility with all ACT chambers from both the HS2000 and HS3000 series. The attachment mechanism has also been simplified, making customization easier and more accessible.

■ ARS53, 8 Core Reference Hybrid Cable

The included “ARS53” earphone cable is Acoustune’s reference grade hybrid cable designed to reduce conductor resistance, prevent signal transmission loss, and improve S/N ratio across the entire frequency range. It features a hybrid structure of silver coated OFC and ultra fine OFC wires (triple shielded / double twisted) in an 8 core configuration, with a transparent sheath made from Japan made PVC.
The connector uses the Pentaconn Ear system, designed and manufactured by Nippon Dics Co., Ltd., known for its high sound quality and reliability. Compared to traditional MMCX connectors, Pentaconn Ear offers superior conductivity due to tighter plug socket contact, while also improving durability and ease of attachment/detachment.

■ Includes Two Types of Eartips: “AEX07” and “AET02”

Acoustune’s new reference eartips improve fit and sound isolation while preserving the earphones’ original tonal balance.
Refined Shape and Size Options Based on Accumulated Data
Based on the fundamental design of the AET07, a long-standing standard eartip supplied with Acoustune products and also sold separately, the shape has been carefully refined using extensive ear impression data and user feedback gathered through the development of the ST1000/ST300 3D custom fit intershells.
Adjustments include a change in silicone material and corresponding refinements to the wall thickness and overall shape.
